Mak had been suffering from knee pains for over six months until the doctor recommended her to have an operation.
	This operation would replace her knee joints with a metal alloy rod and was done on both of her knees. It took place on 26 Aug 2002 at the Selangor Medical Centre in Shah Alam.

 

After two days, she was out from ICU and stayed in the Permaisuri Ward, for rest and physiotherapy.
