 | Selamat Hari Raya! It was the first day of Aidil Fitri and I even
brought a set of Baju Melayu complete with Sampin to wear to the mosque.
Unfortunately, we were so zonked out from last night that almost
everyone woke up after 9am. Thus, nobody went to the mosque. |
 | Once I got up (nearer 11am...) I did have cereal and milk for
breakfast (we bought those last night at a grocery store). The rest then
realised how important it is to have a pack of Honeystars or Fruit &
Nuts nearby when there is no other source of food available.... |
 | By the time everyone got up and was dressed up, we were ready for real
breakfast (more like lunch.) As we left in the cars, we thought we saw
the caretaker and neighbours playing some kind of stick game. To our
horror, what they were actually doing was using the stick to kill a
cobra that had infiltrated into the compound. I caught a glimpse of the
cobra in its deadly striking position before being whacked fatally hard
by one of the boys. Apparently, you could stumble upon snakes quite
easily in this area. Crikes! |
 | We quickly left the bungalow and headed towards Kuah town. Most shops
were closed but we saved by KFC. Chicken never tasted so good... |
 | After brunch, we took a ride around the island and explored places to
visit. We passed lots of interesting sites, like the Perdana Gallery,
Handicraft Centre, Dataran Helang, Hot Spring, Porta Malai, and the
Hospital. But the highlight must have been Pusat Pemproses Sisa-sisa
Pepejal. Otherwise known as the Hard Shit Processing Centre! |
 | In the late afternoon, the caretaker came over to deliver us a loan
TV. This brought great relief to the boys who were dying to play their
PS2 games. |
 | At dusk, most of us spent walking at the beach and witnessing the
glowing sunset. The night however was filled with the blare of modified
race cars or military battles. |
